Moqui Stone (Female) - Large

Very little is known about the origins of the Moqui stone; only that it is native to the United States, primarily Utah.

Each stone weighs approximately 60/80 grams. The size is similar to a large nut and measures about 4 cm.

The female Moqui stone is distinguished from the male by its flatter shape and a raised relief around the stone.

Also known as “Moqui Balls” or “Shaman Stones,” many archaeologists believe they were used for centuries by shamans.

According to Hopi tradition, the word “Moqui” means “Dear Departed” and these stones were used in games at dusk, when spirits were allowed to visit the material world.

As the sun set, the spirits had to return to their world and left these stones as markers indicating they were well and happy.

These stones were placed in homes as symbols of peace and happiness. They are often used in pairs (one male stone and one female stone).
