Cornelius Rumstuckle is a fourth-generation wizard with roots in the Old World. He joined the Brotherhood of Wizards in 1514 and became its youngest resident ever, a record he still holds to this day seventy years later. In a very amusing way, he explains to the reader how he will lead them to the Brotherhood of Wizards: 
“Here’s how it will happen: first, I’ll teach you the Theory of the Art of Magic. Don’t even think about skipping this part because you can’t. I won’t have the country full of wizards who don’t know what they’re doing; it’s too dangerous. Besides, you’ll need a bit of theory if you want to survive the Wizard’s Adventure.
You won’t start working until you understand the theory. You won’t make even a magic wand or cast a single spell until you know exactly what you’re doing. I won’t accept that. So, study the theory carefully (it’s not as hard as it seems). Once you’ve got it down pat, you can move on to your next lesson. That’s what they are – lessons. And lessons mean work. Work, work, work”.
