Turkish Eye Bracelet - Blue Thread

", "description": "

The Turkish eye bracelet – blue thread (sometimes called the Greek eye) protects against the evil eye, envy, and ill-will and can be found throughout Turkey, Greece, and various Mediterranean countries.

In Mediterranean countries, it is used as a personal amulet in bracelets, earrings, and necklaces or as a protective charm hung in homes, offices, or cars.

This Turkish eye bracelet – blue thread is made of blue glass beads.

The Turkish eye bracelet – blue thread weighs approximately 15 gr. in total.

MEANING OF THE TURKISH EYE

Its Turkish name for protection against the evil eye and envy is nazar boncuk (Nazar-evil eye, boncuk-amulet). The Turkish eye is often referred to as the Eye of Fatima, named after the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, and it is combined with the Fatima Hand amulet to enhance its effects. Although it can take various patterns and designs, the Turkish eye is typically composed of a circle, sphere, or teardrop shape in dark blue with a white and light blue eye overlay. The Turkish eye amulet appeared during the development of glassmaking in the Mediterranean around the 16th century BC. Legend has it that fair-haired, blue-eyed men could be malevolent and send negative vibrations through their gaze. When the Turkish eye breaks or cracks, it has fulfilled its protective function and must be replaced.
