MEANING OF THE TURKISH EYE

Its Turkish name for protection against the evil eye and jealousy is nazar boncuk (Nazar-eye amulet).
\n
Although it can take various patterns and be applied in different designs, the Turkish eye is typically composed of a circle, sphere, or drop shape in dark blue with an overlaid white and light blue eye. The Turkish eye amulet appeared during the period of glassmaking development in the Mediterranean around 16 BC. Legend has it that fair-haired blue-eyed men could be malevolent and send bad vibrations through their gaze. When the Turkish eye breaks or cracks, it has fulfilled its protective function and must be replaced.
