Saint Rita of Cascia – 15cm

", "description": "

BRIEF HISTORY OF SAINT RITA Rita was born in 1381 in Roccaporena (Italy), a small mountain village where she grew up with a fervent love for God. To obey her parents, Rita, who wanted to enter convent life, reluctantly married a violent and rebellious man. With her fervor and kindness, Rita managed to calm her husband Paulo, and they had two children. One day, Paulo was murdered on the roadside, and their two sons vowed revenge. Unable to dissuade them, Rita fervently prayed to God to take them away so they wouldn’t stain their lives with murder. Her prayers were answered, and Rita, now alone in the world, tried to enter convent life. This attempt was denied. Rita then intensely prayed to her three patron saints, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Augustine, and Saint Nicholas of Tolentino. After much prayer, the three saints appeared, leading her to the convent. They opened the doors and asked her to enter. Thus, Rita could wear the Augustinian habit, fulfilling her long-held desire to dedicate herself entirely to God, engaging in penance, prayer, and love for the crucified Christ, who visibly associated her with His Passion by implanting a thorn in her forehead.
