Her healing abilities were matched by her extraordinary beauty, which captivated the attention of men around her. The slave was sentenced to repeated beatings and to wear the Flemish mask (an iron mask that prevented food intake) for refusing to give up her virginity to her master. These punishments were fatal, and Anastacia died in the arms of these torments, with her beauty marred by the constant use of the mask.
