The Turkish Eye amulet emerged during the development of glassmaking in the Mediterranean around the 16th century BC. Legend has it that fair-haired, blue-eyed men could be malevolent and could send negative energy through their gaze. When the Turkish Eye breaks or cracks, it has fulfilled its protective function and must be replaced.
